George Riley Aboriginal name: “Jillimablu” – Owl

George Norman Riley born 1964, growing up along the Barron River (Bunna Warru), a place called Kowrowa. George’s dreaming is the wind, fire and water and is inspired to paint by watching and learning from nature and family members. 

The painting shows a modern Aboriginal style with very bright colours.

Bud-a ji (Rainbow serpent, olive Python)

The Rainbow Serpent is the cause of chaos and the changing of the seasons. Budaji is recognise as a Spirit coming from the north in the form of a large beautiful snake interacting with the people of the land, order in society and bringing items of significance, like shells, boomerangs, spears, fire sticks, stone axe and other artefacts.
