Melanie Hava Aboriginal name: “Winden” – green pigeon

Melanie’s Waribarra ancestors lived and travelled along gorges of the Beatrice River and Johnstone River Catchment areas. There is a favourite swimming spot on the Beatrice River – which she still goes to today.

Stories passed on down to her about the Gumbagun (Cassowary). They were often seen as a guide or a warning to our people when crossing paths with them in the rainforest. She has depicted a mother teaching her young child about the ways of the cassowaries and how to listen to what he’s trying to tell them.

Melanie captured in “Untouched” her stories, connection to the nature and all her memories she has from visiting the rainforest.
